Why Kalla Lou?

When I was looking for a name for my craft projects, the first word that came to my mind was Callaloo.

Callaloo is a leaf vegetable that is used in many dishes in Grenada and the Caribbean, originating in West Africa.

When we first arrived in Grenada we tasted many different local dishes and Callaloo was and is one of my favourite. It tastes a bit like spinach and is served cooked as a green vegetable or made into a very tasteful soup. There are many varieties of the soup, you can get it with crab meat and/or salt meat, often okra is added and coconut milk is a must.

But not only do I like the vegetable and the soup I also love the sound of the word ‘Callaloo’ and my name Kalla Lou was born.
